At Good Earth, we have been creating spaces that are more functional yet economically sustainable and environmentally sensitive. Green buildings that is contemporary yet very close to the nature. The effort is to create communities that are socially secure and closely interact.
Earlier we practiced low rise, low-density development models as an alternative to the stereotyped concrete jungles in the fastly urbanizing Kochi. But the rise in costs of land also demanded us to think vertical and the first outcome was the recently handed over
the GOOD EARTH HYMNS OF LIFE at Kakkanad. Boasting individual sky gardens and terracotta finished external cavity walls, the project has many firsts to its credit and is being widely applauded. The high-riser has been a great morale booster in our attempt to think beyond mere housing.
So when we decided to embark on a new venture, the challenge was to extend the ‘beyond housing’ terminology. We fathomed deeper and sat over many a cup of tea, and it was crystallized over time that the new Good Earth should have much beyond the architectural and construction competence that we have. And the challenge began from identifying the right land.
Location
The search for a land that can carry our dream ended when we saw this property. We can’t figure out what stopped us- may be the waters that whispered with the banks; or the swaying palms that lined up on the shores; or the country boat that went by; or the sight of Chinese net the fishermen use; or the wooden boat jetty on the other side that wore the marks of aging…

Good Earth Reflectionsis coming up on an 80 cents verdant land on the banks of river Kaniyampuzha at Eroor, a quiet residential suburb of Kochi city. The property is easily accessible through the Tripunithura – Alinchuvadu road that runs parallel to NH 47 Bye Pass and the new Seaport- Airport road. The proposed 4-line extension of Thammanam – Pulleppady road to Infopark at Kakkanad, which originates from MG Road at Padma Jn. is aligned within 1 km of this property, making it strategically positioned between the city center and the IT hub.

MACRO LEVEL PLANNING FOR YOUR GOOD LIVING
Floor Area Ratio of 2: With a view of limiting the numbers and in tandem with the new government norms, we are using an FAR of only 2. This means less number of units and more undivided share of land per owner. Just 44 units in 80 cents of land.
Sustainable Technologies: Close on the heels of our earlier projects, Good Earth Reflections is also planned as an exposed terracotta brick structure. This will ensure low maintenance costs and excellent thermal insulation, making the building highly energy efficient.
Rainwater harvesting: Harvesting rain water and recharging it to the ground is a macro level planning feature aimed at enhancing the quality of ground water table. The system will also fed to a storage facility after due purification.
Sewage Management: A mechanical Sewage Treatment Plant is planned to treat the sewage and sullage.

Organic Waste management: Solid waste management is becoming the most complex issue being faced by any developing society. We at Good Earth firmly believe that it is an individual responsibility to address the issue by becoming more committed to the environment and neighbourhood. At Good Earth Reflections, a biogas plant of adequate capacity is planned to manage the organic waste.
Aesthetics: That unmatchable Good Earth aesthetics that will convert your dwelling into an eco-resort is repeated here too. Good Earth Reflections will take you back in time with the finely crafted landscapes on the waterfront and around the building that will magnificently blend with the terracotta finished exteriors.
Earthquake Resistant Structure: The deep piled structure will be designed and made to Zone III standards.

MICRO LEVEL PLANNING
Sky gardens at selected units:
These are open green terraces with a breathtaking view of the waters and green below. Besides creating a bit of the outdoors even at the higher floors, they break the severity of the scale, making it more human.
The design of the sky gardens minimise the heat and moisture on the lower floors, by virtue of protecting the walls below. The landscaped garden, acts as a buffer from the dust, heat and the lashing rain.
They are staggered on alternate floors to form a chequer board like spacing, which enhances the air movement between floors. The double height spacing between the gardens, gives each one a private uninterrupted bit of sky, not to mention the waters below.
The transition from the interior of the house to the open terrace is made through a semi open verandah. The verandah is the most comfortable space from which one can enjoy the rain, only feeling the mild spray, or the cool breeze, protected from the sun.
